Best Philadelphia Breweries and Taproms
Best Breweries in Philadelphia
Yards Brewing Co – Not only does Yards have a wide selection of beer styles they also have some very delicious food. The fried chicken thigh sandwich is killer and pairs well with the Love Stout. The brewery is large, inviting and never disappoints.
Evil Genius Beer Company – Evil Genius has some of the most unique beer names out there. Ma! The Meatloaf, Purple Monkey Dishwasher and It’s Britney Bitch are just a few of my favorites. Their beer is also really good and it’s my favorite Philly brewery. I highly suggest making the trip to Fishtown to grab a pint or a crowler of your favorite.
Best Philly Taprooms
Tria Taproom – My favorite spot for beer and food is Tria taproom on Walnut Street. They have 2 dozen beers on tap as well as wine on tap. Their beer selection ranges from ciders and meads to IPA’s and lagers and even some of the best stouts in the country.
The food is on par with the selection of beers and the hanger steak and beer burgers are both delicious. They also have the best Cubano sandwich I have ever had.
They post their beer menu on Bevchek so you always know what’s on tap and just as importantly, how much is left.
Monks Café – Monks is one of the most highly rated beer bars in the world and has a wide variety of eclectic beers on tap and a huge bottle menu. I always stop at Monks to sample new rarities that can’t be found anywhere else in the area. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and can always help me find something new and interesting.
Prohibition Taproom – Prohibition has a large selection of drafts and cans with specialty ciders as well as a delicious gastropub menu. The Mac & Cheese is my personal favorite.
City Tap House – City Tap House in University city always has a great selection of beer on tap and generally the best selection of Imperial stouts year-round. A bit out of city center but well worth the short Uber ride.
Best Philly Bottle Shops
If you are looking to take some beers home with you I have several recommendations for great bottle shops in and around city center. The Foodery at Rittenhouse has 0ver 600 beers ranging from local breweries, regional breweries and beyond. Monde Market has a large selection of beers and I have found several rarities there. Beer Love Philly has a large selection and is just outside city center and worth the stop as they have a variety not found in city center.
