Typical Costs When Traveling

Accommodation – You can stay in a hotel for around $130 per night in the area. There are many choices in on VRBO starting around $74 per night.

I recommend Home2 Suites in Fort Collins as its centrally located in Fort Collins so everything is a close drive. The rooms are spacious and beds are comfortable, plus rate includes breakfast. If you want to stay closer to Old Town Fort Collins, I recommend staying at The Elizabeth Hotel.

We have stayed in both an hotel and Airbnb in our past trips. When we stayed in Airbnb, we were within walking distance of Old Town Fort Collins which is nice to be close and not have the inconvenience with parking car for dinner and drinks.

Food – This area has some great food options! We eat breakfast at our hotel or Airbnb to save money. Meals can range from $8-$40 depending on your budget. You will often find food trucks located at breweries to keep budget low while keeping you satisfied. We always visit The Still Whiskey Steaks and it never disappoints. Sometimes the city can get very busy, so I would recommend reservations when available.

Transportation – Although there are public transportation and Uber services available, I would recommend renting a car. Assuming you are flying into Denver International Airport, you will need to drive approximately 45 min to 1 hr to Fort Collins. We’ve found car rentals are under $40 per day. I recommend using Uber if you are going to be beer tasting in Fort Collins.

Suggested daily budget – $170-225 USD (Note: This is a suggested budget assuming you’re staying in a reasonable hotel with breakfast included, renting compact car, and staying under $30 food/drink budget per person. Using the budget tips below, you can always lower this number. However, if you stay in fancier accommodation or eat out more often, expect this to be higher!)

Money Saving Tips

1
Eat at Food Trucks This town offers over 50 different food truck options. They are located around the city, but often setting up at brewery locations. This is a great way to enjoy some great food at reasonable prices!
2
Enjoy Nature for Free We love getting fresh air in this beautiful State! If you are the outdoorsy type, go for a hike or take a scenic drive and stop to smell the fresh air.
3
Sample beer in flights Rather than get full pints of beers, get small samples or flights in 4oz sizes to taste a variety and stick to your budget.

I’m a travel addict. When my kids were younger, we loved to explore our home state of Utah by camping, hiking and biking. I love the outdoors and the last few years I’ve become obsessed with new outdoor destinations and the best way to maximize my vacation budget so I can travel often. I love experiencing those new destinations and cultures through food and beer. You’ll often find me trying to convince others to book a vacation or planning my next vacation!
